Patience is not simply the ability to wait. It’s how we behave while we’re waiting. – Joyce Meyer

A woman’s pre-delivery check list is most likely to resemble this one;

  • Comfortable clothes
  • Toiletries
  • Breast pads
  • Sanitary pads
  • Nursing bras
  • Lots of underwear
  • Slippers
  • Nightgowns
  • Baby car seat
  • Bath robes and towels
  • Receiving blankets
  • Baby’s outfits; socks, hat, onesies, warm clothes, etcetera

Which means she’s probably already set up the baby’s crib, had a baby shower and received almost all the baby items in her gift registry.

Can you imagine all the odds that were against young Mary? Going up from Nazareth to Bethlehem for a census registration, implying an 80 mile walk up the hills, valleys and mountains; almost Nine months pregnant, not certain of when to return, foreign city, etc. She had to have banked a lot on her feet, the donkey and heavenly strength to carry her through!

The Bible reckons that the baby did indeed arrive while she was in Bethlehem, leaving Faith as the only item on her pre-delivery checklist! There was no room available for them, so she wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger; the exact sign that the shepherds would need to identify Jesus and spread the news of his birth!

Whilst the passage in Luke 2, doesn’t mention the origin of the cloths that wrapped Him or the manger where He lay, I would like to believe that, God trusted the wisdom He has given unto us, as far as our wildest imagination is concerned, would allow this unprecedented true story to speak for itself.  May the simplicity of the truth of His Word impact us to Kingdom come!

More gifting would soon follow; frankincense, myrrh and the one of your dreams; gold! She believed that the Lord would fulfill His promise, His way! Her credulous faith surely did go a long way! She believed! She waited!

I pray that you may know Him and that the power of His resurrection may reveal His everlasting love to you and your dear ones!
